In the role of Miyamoto Musashi, Koji Yakusho was able to transport me into the life and era of a character I would never have, otherwise given very much thought to other than the fact that he was a great historical figure.  I now see Miyamoto Musashi as a true person of remarkable strengths and convictions.  I believe that it took a great and wonderful man to make him come alive, in other words, to bring us into his life to cry with him, to laugh with him, to hope with him and to feel every struggle within him.  I felt Miyamotosama's emotions as if they were my own.  This was due to the tremendous ability of an extremely talented and humane actor, Yakusho Koji.

Yakushosan is by far number one on my list as the greatest actor I've ever had the pleasure to watch.  I say this with conviction because he was able to make me understand the character he portrayed, not with words, (unfortunately I don't speak or understand Japanese), but with my own emotions of which he touched in a wonderful and delightful  way.
