| On June 2, 2007, I wrote about Koji Yakusho's son, Ichiro Hashimoto on the "Koji Yakusho News 7" page on my website: If you want to see what Koji Yakusho's son Ichiro Hashimoto looks like, you should go to see a film, entitled,"Ore wa Kimino Tamenikoso Shinini Iku" (For Those We Love) starring Keiko Kishi and Satoshi Tokushige (directed by Taku Shinjo), which has been being shown nationwide in Japan since May 12. (The Japan Times Review) On May 8, Koji Yakusho fans became excited with the Nikkan Sports report that Ichiro Hashimoto (aged 21) had joined in the shooting of this film. The Nikkan Sports states that Ichiro's cameo role in this film is that of a Kamikaze airplane pilot appearing only in a couple of scenes. The Nikkan Sports also reported that Ichiro applied for the audition for this film two years back, in 2005 without mentioning his father, and that he passed it owing to his masculine outlook and very mature and polite attitude. In a recent interview with Nikkan Sports, Ichiro, now a university student, mentions that he was impressed by the fact of this film being based on the real story about the mother-like figure, Tome Torihama (played by Keiko Kishi) who used to run a cafeteria near the Kamikaze pilot air base at Chiran, in Kagoshima prefecture during the wartime. He therefore decided to apply for the audition for this film. Ichiro said that he had learned quite a lot through the shooting of this film, adding that he had long been interested both in movie staff work and in acting as his future career. On his official blog dated on May 9, under the title of "Our family's big happenings" Koji Yakusho referred to Ichiro's appearance in this film: His son has joined in a movie study club at his university and has been doing various jobs relating to film-making, such as directing, acting and lighting. |
| March 6, 2010 Ichiro Hashimoto now belongs to an agency called "Dongyu Club" in Shibuya, Tokyo. You can see the photo of him on the front page of this website. His photo is the second from the left on the bottom. Click his photo and you'll see two more photos of him. On this Dongyu Club website you will see some photos of noted actors and directors, such as Ryo Ikebe, Jo Odagiri, Ken Mitsuishi, Ryo Iwamatsu and Sono Shion. March 4, 2009 Ichiro Hashimoto appears in a movie, "Tsurugidake Ten no Ki" (Mt. Tsurugidake) which is to be shown on June 20, 2009 as Seizaburo Yoshida. On this site, we can now read the interview with him. His father, Koji Yakusho makes a cameo appearance in this movie as Morisaku Furuta, too. September 16,2008 Here is another photo of Ichiro Hashimoto and other cast members at the time of the greeting session on the satge before the premiere showing on August . Ichiro is standing in the back row on the right. The tallest man in front is the guest, Masumi Kuwata, former pitcher of the Yomiuri Giant baseball team. August 12 Ichiro Hashimoto appears in a movie called "Hyakuhachi ", directed by Yoshitaka Mori, which was released in the Tokyo and the Kanto area on August 9. This is a movie in which "16-year-old actors, Aoi Nakamura and Yoshiki Saito, play two reserve members of a strong high school team in Kanagawa led by a demanding coach (Riki Takeuchi). To secure a place on the bench, they are willing to do anything to prove their value to the team. " (Source: TokyoGraph) TokyoGraph adds that "The title, which of the movie translates as the number 108, refers to the number of stitches on a baseball as well as the number of KLESHAS (worldly passions) in Buddhism." Unlike in the case in his first movie, "Ore wa, Kimi no Tame ni Koso Shini ni Iku" , Ichiro does have a speaking role in his second movie!. Ichiro appears in HYAKUHACHI under his nickname, Kobuh as one of the reserve members of the strong high school baseball team during a few scenes in the first half of the movie. Something unique about Kobuh is that he tells his team-mates that he will soon leave the baseball team to concentrate on studying, so that he can become a lawyer following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who recently passed away. With spectacles on Kobuh looks shy, serious and inflexible. Nonetherless, whatever he does and says is funny. It seems that he fills a role as a kind of "a comic reliefe". I went see this movie on August 9, looking forward to seeing Ichiro on the screen. My first impression about him was that he does not look very much like his father as regards stature and facial features. Nonetheless, once he appears on the screen, he gives a very strong impression, despite having a minor role; moreover, his voice sounds deep and resonant. Ichiro's third movie, which is due to be released in 2009. is "Tsurugidake Ten no kih(Mt.Tsurugidake), starring Tadanobu Asano and Teruyuki Kagawa. What is exciting about this movie is that Ichiro's father Koji Yakusho is to make a cameo appearance. Yakusho will not be in the same scene with his son but this movie is really one to which Koji Yakusho fans can look forward. |
