I just saw Doppelganger dvd. I thought the man in the final scene is the doppelganger and I found your homepage says I was right.
I expected a genuine horror film, yet it turned out to be a black comedy. Probably I expected a very sinister doppelganger^^. There are some scenes which are incomprehensible, such as, how the assistant didn't die after he fell from the cliff or why the big rolling ball was needed in the chasing scene between Yakusho Koji and his assistant etc. I think the rolling ball was not hilarious at all if the director wanted a comic touch in the scene.
Anyway, I feel this movie could appeal especially to Japanese who are said to have "Honne" in their minds. Of course we all have another self who wants to be free and do whatever we want!
